I started dyeing with natural dyes in the late 1980's and have gained a great deal of practical knowledge of dyeing.

During the process I became increasingly interested in the history of dyeing and the colours used by different social classes throughout history, when different dyes were first imported into this country, who would wear certain colours and the laws that dictated whether you could wear a certain colour or not.
 
Many of the plants used I either grow or collect myself and do all the dyeing in my workshop studio at my home in Wiltshire.
